Polytechnic Heights

Polytechnic Heights

Southeast Fort Worth - Texas
June - 2015

After three years of driving past my most favorite building in Fort Worth, I finally stopped for an hour to explore the structure & neighborhood. I'm embarrassed it's taken me this long to meander through the streets with my camera in hand, but so grateful to have captured a piece of Fort Worth that is so dear to my heart.

When I think of Southeast Fort Worth, I think of
my first real job out of college
early morning drives soundtracked by the roosters crowing & chickens clucking
running through the streets to train for the Cowtown Marathon
...
but most importantly, community.

Teach For America: Induction

Teach For America: Induction

Southern Methodist University - Dallas, TX
June - 2015

The energy is always palpable at Teach For America Induction, & opening dinner at SMU earlier this month was no exception. I'm excited to experience
TFA-DFW's 1st ever regional institute with my lens by my side!

Daniel & Caitlin - The Proposal

Daniel & Caitlin

Dogwood Canyon - Joe Pool Lake - Cedar Hill, TX
May - 16 - 2015

My favorite kind of adventure is when original plans unexpectedly fall through & spontaneous planning begins. This turned out to be the case when a group of friends & I planned to go to THIS Dogwood Canyon (actually in Missouri, minor fail), but ended up here. Daniel had planned to propose to Caitlin near the waterfall along the trail, but after 45 minutes of hiking, with no falls in sight, we realized we were at a different location.

A last minute decision to find a new backdrop for the proposal took us to Joe Pool Lake. The purpose of the outing, in Caitlin's eyes, was to celebrate Daniel's birthday - the group knew better! After taking a few group shots, & ending with a few shots of just Daniel & Caitlin, he popped the question...& she said YES!

Caitlin & Daniel - you both are wonderful friends, compassionate teachers & phenomenal ACL buddies. Thank you for letting me be part of this amazing moment. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

DC Monuments & Memorials

DC Monuments & Memorials

Washington - DC
May 2015

While in DC, I may or may not have envisioned myself as Olivia Pope, busting through the White House doors with pertinent news to deliver to Mr. President. Or maybe more Claire Underwood-esque after briskly walking 6 miles around the strikingly symmetrical monuments & memorials. Two days is not enough time for this city, and I hope to return soon to explore the museum scene in greater depth.
